The casino income of Jeju Dream Tower IR, an integrated resort owned by Lotte Tour Development, increased 249% over the previous year to KRW152.3 billion, which is approximately $116 million. The primary reason for the increase was South Korea’s recovery from COVID-19 and the comeback of foreign tourists.

In compliance with the information submitted to the Korea Exchange on January 2, the overall result for 2023 involved a 264% increase in the income from table games to KRW138.0 billion, which is approximately US$105 million, in addition to growth of 149% in machine income to KRW14.3 billion, which is approximately US$10.9 million.

This happened regardless of a poor performance during December, when casino income dropped 20.6% on the monthly level to KRW14.2 billion, which is approximately US$10.8 million. Yuji Naka Arrested Again Over Insider Trading Allegations – Report

Yuji Naka, co-creator of Sonic and director of the infamous Balan Wonderland, has been arrested again on alleged insider trading charges surrounding Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. This comes after Naka’s first arrest in November, for similar insider trading charges but on a different game, a new Dragon Quest title.

According to Asahi (via VGC), Naka and another Square Enix employee, Taisuke Sazaki, knew of Square Enix’s plans to work with Ateam on Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. Naka and Sazaki are accused of buying Ateam stocks before an official announcement went live.

The Nintendo Museum is preparing to open in Kyoto, Japan, and it looks to be an incredible collection of Nintendo ephemera. But it is also, perhaps inadvertently, a way to settle age-old internet disputes, and it has already supplied a definitive answer to the question: Is Yoshi’s Island (aka Super Mario World 2) a Yoshi game or a Mario game?

According to Dan Ryckert’s impressions from a special press preview of the museum, one exhibition room has space dedicated to specific franchises, separated into individual categories. The Mario franchise display was by far the largest, encompassing not just the plumber’s solo adventures but also the various spin-offs like kart racers and sports games. But he also noticed that Yoshi’s Island is not actually in the Mario display, and is rather included in a separate Yoshi franchise display.

iSoftBet grows footprint in “key regulated markets” in Europe courtesy of new partnership with TonyBet

Following the recent launch of its Tropical Bonanza slot and leading iGaming content provider iSoftBet has further expanded its footprint across Europe after entering into a new partnership agreement with international online gaming company TonyBet.

Owned by Betsson AB, the Estonian firm operates in multiple jurisdictions and as such the deal will see the provider’s products made available in “key regulated markets” across Europe, including Portugal, Spain and Latvia, in addition to the Netherlands “in the near future.”

European Growth:

Via company blog, Lars Kollind, Head of Business Development for iSoftBet, commented on the recent deal, referring to the tie-up as an “exciting moment” for the London-headquartered company as they “continue to identify” new ways to grow their footprint across Europe.
